Atheists, if the Bible correctly tells the Jews exactly when the Messiah would come, why don't they believe?
Prophecy was given for believers, as the Apostle Paul said. Well, the Book of Daniel clearly gave the exact dates for when the Messiah would come. So I ask those who do not believe, how can they who believe in a God, not believe the times that God put in their own book?

And this also kinda proves the Mormons wrong, since prophecy and vision would be sealed up as the angel Gabriel said, so if it’s sealed up, how could Joesph Smith prophecy or have visions of anything?? lol

Therefore, consider the message and understand the vision:

Daniel 9:24

24 "Seventy ’sevens’ [c] are decreed for your people and your holy city to finish [d] transgression, to put an end to sin, to atone for wickedness, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy and to anoint the most holy. [e]

25 "Know and understand this: From the issuing of the decree [f] to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until the Anointed One, [g] the ruler, comes, there will be seven ’sevens,’ and sixty-two ’sevens.’ It will be rebuilt with streets and a trench, but in times of trouble. 26 After the sixty-two ’sevens,’ the Anointed One will be cut off and will have nothing. [h] The people of the ruler who will come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end will come like a flood: War will continue until the end, and desolations have been decreed.
it say’s "The" in my version, not "an". lol
"] The people of the ruler who will come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. "

That happened in 70AD so the Messiah was supposed to come before that.
you still didn’t say why my version has "the" and yours has "an". lol

As an atheist, I don’t care what the Bible says. As a fundamentalist, if what someone said showed even the slightest hint that my religion was wrong my response would be simply "That’s not what it means", end of conversation, so I really don’t see the point here. Christians refuse to listen to sensible talk about the Bible and atheists really don’t care.

I can only speak for myself. I can’t tell you why anyone else believes or doesn’t believe something.

It does not say when the messiah will come.

Daniel 10:14 is the only messianic verse in Daniel according to Judaism. In the Hebrew Scriptures, Daniel 9:25 say "an annointed one, a prince", not *the* annointed one.

Christians love to mistranslate and misinterpret the Hebrew Scriptures. They start by assuming their NT beliefs must be true and then they look backwards in an attempt to find support. But the support is simply not there. Christians totally misunderstand the concept of the Jewish messiah.

The Jewish messiah is a mortal human who is to rebuild the Temple in Jerusalem and bring an era of peace on Earth. He has nothing to do with getting people into heaven. Judaism believes all righteous people have a place in the next world, and righteousness does not follow the Christian definition. There is no hell to be saved from.

The man does not have to be identified because he is not to be worshipped. It is the hope for his accomplishments that is the hope of Judaism.

If Judaism is right then Christianity is wrong.
If Judaism is wrong then Christianity has no basis.

I suspect that you are not able to accept the truth because you would not know what to base your life on.

The bible says a lot of things, a lot of wrong things.

and why should atheists care about some fairy tale about some savior? I’d rather read a batman comic book than the bible.

The reason why is because it may just be a lie to them. Remember, the ancient Israel was different from what it is now. Back then it was a haven for evil. They might have just ignored it because they Truly do not believe. They just believe when it is good for them.

Hello,

I’ll leave it to some Jewish folk to answer here but they say that many of the prophesies promised, were not fulfilled by Jesus from the lamb laying down with the lion, swords being turned into plough blades through to the restoration of Israel as a great power like in the days of Solomon etc.

Cheers,

But you can’t force people to believe what they don’t believe….

Yeah, if only it weren’t for the pesky facts that Daniel was written 400 years after the death of the prophet Daniel and is actually about Antiochus IV Epiphanes and not about the messiah, that would tend to be true.

Fundies are always happy to cite Josephus as a source for the existence of Jesus, but when it comes to that stuff he wrote about the book of Daniel being about the Greek emperor, not so much.

Jews will explain that Jesus did not fulfill the OT prophesies.

Meanwhile, as an atheist I think the whole book is irrelevant and make believe BS. So why ask me?

Since most of it was written after the fact I tend not to believe.
